Equipment

  • waffle iron

Ingredients

  • frozen croissants
  • optional toppings (powdered sugar, maple syrup, whipped cream, berries, Nutella, honey, jam, etc.)

Instructions

  • Remove croissants from the freezer and let them thaw at room temperature for 30 minutes.
  • Preheat your waffle iron. No need to grease the iron as the croissants have butter.
  • Place your croissants directly onto the waffle iron and gently close the lid. My waffle iron is a 4-waffle style, so I usually cook 4 croissants at a time. If your waffle iron is a 2-waffle style, then it can cook 2 croissants at a time. I cook my croffles for about 4 minutes, until golden and crisp. Timing will depend on your appliance and croissant size. It can be anywhere from 4 to 5 minutes.
  • Once they're golden brown, remove and serve immediately while hot. They’re best fresh off the iron. Feel free to add any topping you wish. I like them best with just powdered sugar.

Notes

  • Gently close the lid of your waffle iron. They will rise while cooking.
  • Keep an eye on them. The hotter your iron gets, the quicker they brown. You might need to turn the heat down a bit if they’re browning too quickly.
  • Chocolate croissants will leak a bit, and that’s ok!
  • These are great for brunch boards or build-your-own waffle bars.
